It’s Amost Here… Thanksgiving 2008
So, today, a day that I should have been doing homework, avoiding responsibility, Christine and I went shopping to prepare for Turkey Day 2008.
We have everything to make the day spectacular. Turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie in-a-can, all the ingredients to make the world famous Lyman/Hull (Lyman is my mother’s maiden name) cranberry jello, three pounds of green beans, bacon, chicken broth, Cool HuhWip, sour cream, greens, garlic, scallions, carrots, cucumbers, butternut squash (for Ainsleigh), flour, etc. We lucked out with just over $100 too! We plan to have Bonnie McMenomy, Christine’s mother, Art (Bonnie’s boyfriend), “Yoga” Jenny, her husband Gary and Bonnie (“Yoga” Jenny’s daughter) over for dinner. “Yoga” Jenny is a friend Christine made while she was pregnant when she attended Yoga classes. Their family is a real kick and they are fun to be around too. Gary even helped me get a new battery for the car when Christine was stranded a couple weeks ago. They are really cool people. Jenny is a domestic engineer (formerly known as a house-wife) and Gary works as an engineer.
Long story short we will have a full-house this Thanksgiving, with all of the trimmings.
We also just added some sports channels and we know Art will enjoy that, because he is all about anything sports related.
Earlier today, I got the camera out for a few minutes and I got some cool snaps of Toby, Tess and Ainsleigh.
What good is having a $700 camera if you aren’t going to use it right? We are also planning on going, during what the Green Party have named “Buy-Nothing Day” and the retail industry and media have named “Black Friday” to the “American History Museum that just recently opened. I plan to get some new pictures of the recent renovation. You can “read more about it on the We hearts; DC Blog.
Once again, as we mentioned last year, don’t buy into the hype of “Black Friday.” We understand that the economy needs you to buy, but we know that fueling a capitalist system got the US into this predicament in the first place with an over-extension of credit that we really couldn’t afford. As anyone can see, future generations will have to pay our debt today for bailing out Wall Street and a war costing a billion dollars a day; at the least. Repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity. Spending on “Black Friday” is mine. Besides, isn’t Family Day supposed to be spent with family rather than spent fighting the crowds for this year’s version of “Ticke-Me Elmo?” Try to keep spending down to a minimum, if you can help it. A materialist society only begets trouble in the long run. “And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.” – Forest Gump, played by Tom Hanks.

Looks like you guys are all ready. I have eighteen people coming here and I haven’t even made my shopping list yet! So far as shopping goes-online is the way to go. No trying to be sneaky around the kids, no crowds, just me, mastercard, and the postman. And it only takes about an hour to accomplish all. Bliss.

We cooked a turkey yesterday and will have leg of lamb for Thanksgiving. I was up until 1:00 a.m. finishing a knitted hat for baby but still don’t know her head size. You were going to measure her a month ago Chris – help. Good pictures Will.BR/LoveBR/Nana
