Will Got A New Job
Hello everyone, I am writing to let you know that I got a new job and just started. My official title is eAdvocacy/eCommunications Coordinator for the United Cerebral Palsy nonprofit. Their website is at http://www.ucp.org/.
I will be in charge of sending e-newsletters and helping choose the new website software that the organization will be fixing in the future. This new position takes the positions that I have had in the past and adds to the experience by introducing writing. Also, now working for a nonprofit I can put my classes to work because Public Administration also extends to the nonprofit world. The beauty is that I don’t have to intern to get my start in the nonprofit world. I will also be in charge of wrangling a decentralized structure of 96 affiliates nation and worldwide in helping them realize their potential in helping provide advocacy and services to those who are disabled. This organization’s scope also extends far beyond just those that have Cerebral Palsy to anyone who experiences a disability such as children with autism, to a Veteran who returned from Iraq disabled. The potential for this position is great because I have the ability to seek out new ways of communication and marketing to reach the public and affiliates such as the use of MySpace or Facebook or even through the use of wikipedia. The downside is that I haven’t really got a firm grasp yet, after two days of what is expected of me because of the chaotic nature of speaking in generalities amongst the staff so far. I will give it time, however and try to gain perspective, slowly.
I am extremely excited about this job as well as scared a bit that I won’t live up to the expectations. Only the future will see how I will do with this position.

Congrats Will, I’m sure you will do well. Needless to say I am more excited for this position for you than others you have tried because you will be helping in the chain to help others. There are so many needs in this world and so many ways to do God’s work of helping those in need.

Thanks Jean. I was helping Congress communicate with constituents before, but I can see where you are going with this. I will do what I can.
