Photos From Mount Vernon and More…
pThis past weekend, Christine, Bonnie “Noni,” the kids and I all ventured to the Mount Vernon Estate. You might remember Mount Vernon in your history books as the home of George and Martha Washington. George Washington also happened to be the General of the Continental Army and first President of the United States. George and Martha Washington also happen to be interred on the property. It stands about 8 miles south of the southern border of Alexandria, VA. It is very close for Christine and I to get to.
Last weekend happened to be the best weather conditions and we didn’t need jackets. Just a light sweater or sweatshirt was enough. The sun was shining and the leaves still look amazing for this time of year, post-peak fall foliage coloring by just a couple weeks.
Personally, I haven’t been to Mount Vernon to look around since I was a part of the state finalist team for Nevada in the “
We happened to visit on the same day that Ex-White House Executive Pastry Chef, Ronald Mesnier and his crew of pastry chef assistants were building a replica of Mount Vernon as a gingerbread house. It was a sight to see. They also had many Christmas trees erected filled with ornaments for sale featuring model Mount Vernon Mansions or previous U.S. Presidents, etc. A great sense of the Americana feel was imbued on each ornament. Well, anyway, we took a couple pictures there in our plan to capture Nolan’s newborn pictures ourselves. I think we walked away with a couple winners. Great pictures Will! I went to Mount Vernon when I was in 8th grade and remember getting the best fudge. I want to take my kids on the whole tour I went on, they just need to be a little older. Nolan looks so little!

Thanks Jill. We have an annual pass, so if you ever come out it is easy for us to get to.
