Does it count as crawling if you move backwards?

pTonight we let Ainsleigh go crazy and let her just roll around and figure out how to get herself moving. She was all over the place tonight. Which means we emhave to baby proof/em this weekend for sure.

Before you click on the video though, I have to share that Ainsleigh’s 3rd tooth popped through the top. I can’t believe she has three teeth now.

The first video is her moving herself backwards.

its about 2 minutes long and of course Will and I are talking in the background. The dogs are not entirely sure about this new movement but you will see them walking around as well.

I took this video right after we finished dinner and she somehow made it from the rug on the other side of the living room to the hallway. She actually wound up almost all the way down the hallway, she is starting to get tired at this point so you can hear her getting a little fussy.

This was the second video I took tonight, she learned to sit around Christmas time and usually when you set her down to play she loves to sit, but for about the past two weeks she stiffens her body up and wants to lay down, the reason is in this video. She just wants to keep rolling over (which I find so funny since she used to hate rolling)

Wonderful Ainsleigh but tell Daddy and Mommy to take off their shoes when they come in the house now. Think of all the yucky things they have stepped on in streets, sidewalks, where people have spit, etc. and here you are crawling where they have walked. I know, Nana is too protective but, they can’t be too careful with this wonderful baby. Nana likes people to take their shoes off at the door in her house.BR/Love you!BR/Nana

I like how you got my Pee-Wee Herman impression on film. Awesome.BR/BR/I say to Nana, that which doesn’t kill us, only makes us stronger. She is building up her defenses right now and sure we can try to be as clean as possible, but I am not going to let that run my life or hers for that matter. That is how OCD complexes get started. I know it’s irrational, but why do I hate touching gas pump handles and why do I immediately have to wash my hands upon returning home after riding the Metro train? All because someone got to me and said that germs are bad. I say let’s not spoil this. Kids get dirty; it’s a fact of life. I am not going to let it run her life. Christine on the other hand, well she is one-half of her parents and she can decide how she wants to handle it as well. This is just my side of the issue.

On Doctor’s last night someone wrote in to address the question of taking shoes off at the door. In NY they put a pair of new shoes on a person and had them walk around NY for a day and then checked the soles. They found bacteria that was indeed harmful on the soles. They suggested that people that have babies crawlng around on the floor consider taking off the shoes at the door. So see, I am correct in my thinking when one has a darling baby you don’t want to get sick, suffer and cause all sorts of problems. Isn’t it great with family – we can agree to disagree and still love one another with all our hearts.BR/Nana

just to throw my 2 cents in here Nana and Will =) My 18mo chews on his siblings shoes if allowed to get ahold of them…and for some reason my 4yo still loves to drink bath water. Despite my best efforts, my kids are weird…but healthy =PBR/And Will..I LOVE that little baby’s cloth-diapered bubble butt =PBR/Seriously. It should be illegal for her to be so freakin’ cute.

well we do have a basket in the living room for shoes, maybe I will clutter our very small front door space with that instead of our “love plant” and move the “love plant” back to a place that will make Will happy. BR/BR/Sandy, we love her little bubble butt from her diapers, in general I love using cloth dipes, never in my life would I have thought I would but I am very happy I am.

Just an added thought from this concerned great-grandmother. The next time you walk down a sidewalk, a parking lot or your Metro train walkway, look down at the crud you see (oil from cars, spit, bird poop, smokers thrown away butts, etc.). This is what you are walking in to track into your home. We’re not crawling around on the floor and most of us clean on a regular basis but bacteria hangs in there. OK, I’ll shut my mouth about this. Nuff said.BR/God bless,BR/Nana

Thanks Sandy. We kind of like her too. We were debating whether or not we should take her back to the pound, but we decided otherwise. (That was a joke people)
