A lot has happened in a year…
Many may not remember, but just about a year ago, Christine and I were wed in Napa, CA on July 20, 2007. I felt it is time to take a look back at our wedding in remembrance of what happened, to us. Gosh, feels like so long ago.
Since then, I have completed one year of grad school with two more to go, we have moved to a new place, we visited Christine’s step brother, Matt and Brad in New York City, we took a trip up to Boston for Christine’s mothers birthday and to witness the Red Sox beat the Yankees after a rain delay and oh yeah, I almost forgot, we had a baby together.
Many would think that this was a honeymoon baby because we had Ainsleigh within a year of being married. We actually had two months of being married before we found out that Christine was pregnant (the best blessing in our lives to date).
As a lot has changed and the hectic life of wedding planning is behind us (and for that I am quite glad), I took a look back at some of the pictures and I thought I would share some of them with you, in hopes that you too can remember our great day in July in Napa, CA.
Also, we will be back in the area in about two weeks for the Ainsleigh’s baptism, so I guess we are almost making a yearly pilgrimage of sorts to the place where so much love was shared and we want to thank everyone who have done so much for us this past year and those who have wished us well in our lives. Your wishes have come true for us as we are doing extremely well and are loving every minute of it.
Don’t cry, it’s only been a year

What a drag.

would be this difficult?

To those who stood up for us on our day:
Thank you.

For our anniversary, we plan to celebrate it a day early, which is only the proper thing to do, since we had our first date on July 19, 2003 where we went and had frozen custard, saw the first emPirates of the Carribean/em movie and sat on swings at a park until about 1:00AM. This is really our fifth year being together and our first wedding anniversary. We plan on going out to dinner and letting Bonnie (Chrisine’s mother) watch Ainsleigh while we are out. Also, because Christine can’t stand surprises and the fact that I thought I got her the same thing as she got me, we already know what we got each other.
Traditionally, the first anniversary couples are supposed to give paper and eat the top of their wedding cake. Since the cake was just large enough to serve everyone at the reception, we don’t have that and it wouldn’t have fared too well either being shipped or in our suitcases with us in Jamaica. So we are left with just the gifts.
Christine is treating me to a baseball game in Baltimore to see the Boston Red Sox the week after we get back to the east coast and Ainsleigh will accompany us. It is going to be great. I have never been to Camden Yards, but from what I heard, it is spectacular.
I got her a leather bound journal that is worth well over $100 with hand cut paper made in Italy. This is the journal that we will keep and write what we have done on every anniversary. For one thing, it will make us do something special, because we probably won’t want to write about an ordinary event in there each year and second, we will like to look back over the years and see what we wrote. We plan to have a picture taken every year as well. It is going to be great.
Well, that is it for now. Hope to see everyone in about a week to about a week and a half on the west coast whirlwind dc-hulls tour.
Also, please watch your mailboxes as we just sent out Ainsleigh’s birth annoucement.
Please leave us comments, it always brightens up our day to know people are reading and following what we are up to.
Take care and a blessing of good health to you in your life.

What a year! God has surly blessed you two with many wonderful people in your lives, especially the new little one. Things will really get busy now with school, jobs and your daughter. I’m certainly looking forward to meeting her, didn’t know if I would ever be a great grandmother in my lifetime. I’ve ordered wonderful weather the three days you are here, lots of good food, etc. Need I add, don’t forget your camera?BR/Love to all,BR/Nana Jean

Congratulations, what a wonderful year you guys have had, what a great way to celebrate your 1st anniversary with a new addition to your family.

I’ll say, Sara. A colleague of mine at work said a paper gift could have meant diapers, but it was just a joke, of course.

Congrats on your year anniversary! Enjoy the day together and look back on all the wonderful memories. I love the gifts you got each other. I’m sure that journal will come in handy over the years, in case time is flying by too quickly, you can look back on all your memories and be even happier that you have accomplished so much.
