Ahh, Fall Has Finally Arrived

Photo Credit: NCinDC from the We hearts; DC blog

Ahh, the season has finally arrived. My absolute favorite time of year. In fact, I have grown more fond of Fall over the years and it only continues to grow. Brisk and dry air, pumpkin spices and carving, apples, browns, golds and red leaves are falling from trees and sweatshirts/long sleeve shirts are being pulled from the closet (not to mention my mother’s cranberry jell-o recipie getting put to use during Thanksgiving). I even have a bigger excuse to enjoy the season, becuase of Ainsleigh.

I get to dress her up in a couple of years and share all of the fun of the season. I absolutely can’t wait. Some of my best memories, as a child and with Christine were of Apple Hill in Placerville, CA. We would drink apple cider, eat apple fritters, spread apple butter (the best in the world) and check out the arts and crafts and we would even pick our own pumkins off the vine (in early October) and cut down our Christmas tree (always the day after Thanksgiving while I was growing up). In fact, I am thinking about ordering some apple stuff for the Fall from Boa Vista Orchards. I can’t wait to share all of these great experiences with our daughter.

Could there be a better time of year?

I know, I know, you might say, what about Christmas with all of the twinkling lights on the tree and everyone together? You can have twinkling lights during Halloween. As far as everyone together, what about Thanksgiving. There is really no pressure during this time of year, unless you count papers due for class, but that will soon be over.

This is absolutely my favorite time of year and Christine knows it. Now you do too. I am not just talking about the opportunity to scare little kids during Halloween either. I really mean it, it is just a great time of year.

Just thought I would share… can you smell the pumpkin spice in the air? I know I can, as long as I am walking by the Yankee Candle Company and sometimes at home with the apple candle my wife burns on occasion.

Fall, fall, fall, why can’t you be around longer this year?

Opps, forgot to mention that you are in some of the best apple growing country in VA, NC, etc. I know the apples in IL were a lot better than here in CA. Apple trees like the cold, cold winters. Try the local apples before you order.BR/Nana

Nana, I was going to order some Apple Butter. Absolutely the best comes from Apple Hill. About football and this might make me a communist, I have never really been that big into football. BR/BR/Don’t get me wrong I root for my college team (UNR), but I don’t have a favorite pro team. I don’t know why, just never really got into it like I got into baseball. BR/BR/I guess it is like that movie “Fever Pitch” with Jimmy Fallon, when baseball season is over, he almost becomes a different person.BR/BR/Christine and I are probably going to use my new found freedom of having one less class to take this Saturday and go out on the 66 (heads east from the District) to visit some apple orchards (and perhaps wineries) and we might find a pumpkin patch out there so we can share some memories with Ainsleigh. BR/BR/It all depends on if she wants to be fussy or not. Recently, she hasn’t been all that fussy, but who knows.

I will agree with you about Fall, the last week or so the leaves have been changing colors and I think the anticipation of everything that Fall brings like Halloween amp; Thanksgiving and family.

Big Bro, I hereby revoke your man card. It’s cool though, you can get it back if you win the DB and McQ Election Challenge™. Vote Hagan for me since I am still registered in the other swing state we are trying to turn. 😉

It’s okay DB. My man card was taken a while ago by someone I will refrain from mentioning due to the possible consequences.
